Objective:

The project is designed as an introduction to building materials that are usually used in the construction industry. Students are required to build their choice of shapes using the scheduled materials to explore and understand building making in relation to the materials, design reflections of material according to their properties and to lastly understand strengths and weakness of such. 

The first project objective comprises the creation of a 30x30x30cm object/form using a variety of three different materials with a basic shape in my case (cuboid). A highlight factor was to develop and showcase a sensation of spatial and void arrangements in relation to the materials. When there is solid and void, there are also shadows and other happenings during the occurrence of natural light.

 

My design approach was to be based upon a keyword, and then develop the design from there. In my case, I began to ponder about what I derived from space itself and therefore derived the concept of opportunity.
