For this module, we were required to work in groups of 6, we were then tasked to select an architect and research and study his/her particular type of style, works, background etc. The Architect we selected was ‘WALTER GROPIOUS’ and was assigned the Gropius House.

One of the first steps we took was to do a through research on

how the spaces are created from the making of architectural elements : architectonics - solid , planes , lines , and frames. This was to increase our ability to identify master architects and their works and understand basic architectural composition of solid planes, lines and frames.

After which we had to produce a slideshow on Gropius and as well as architectural drawings of the Gropius House and  produce 12 conceptual models to express the analysis of the idea behind the house and it elements.

From this assignment, I learned a whole new approach on how to annotate and breakdown the design aspect of particular in context to region and site. Furthermore site context was a huge rule in the construction of this house. For instance the whole orientation and type of tress used all in relation the the sun’s orientation and shading, were all new to me and i did very much enjoy getting knowledge drilled into me regarding this.
