DEFINING AND DOCUMENTING A PROJECT:

Introduction

 

This is a group project where we form a group of six and establish a project management company. The task is to design and manage a simple construction project in a way that emphasizes cost, quality or time, with measurable success criteria. The objectives of the project is as follows: 
- To understand the application of management techniques in the control and direction of project resources
- To appreciate the need for project management in a real project environment
- To understand the basic stages of project management in the construction industry 
- To understand the basic roles of the different consultants in the construction industry 
- To understand the use of "success criteria" in evaluating a project

Project Detail

 

Taylor’s Management has approached our project management company with an idea of a ‘Recreational Station’. A building that will house students’ recreational activities both indoors and outdoors. The ‘Recreation Station’ will be used during the upcoming Architectural Workshop to be held at the University compound in August 2018. As such, it needs to be carefully planned and implemented to its completion before August 2018.  In order not to interfere with the campus activities during the semester, a proper project management plan has to prepared, where in this case is by us. There are 3 potential sites identified and the final selection will be decided by the Management based on the design suitability, method of construction, implementation strategy and any extra features that would give an added value to the place. As for the budget, we are given RM 1,500,000 to complete this project. As for the site, we have chosen site C to built our recreational station (the red highlighted zone).
